How do I schedule an appointment?Initial appointments can be scheduled at the first initial consultation. You can request one of these by emailing AscueCounseling@gmail.com or calling (407)984-6228.

Do you offer virtual/telehealth sessions?At this time only Telehealth sessions are being offered.

What is your cancellation policy?If an appointment needs to be cancelled, it in my policy that the client informs the counselor 24 hours prior. If client does not show without informing the counselor a no show fee will be applied.

How long is a typical therapy session?Therapy sessions are between 50 and 60 minutes.

How often should I attend therapy?The frequency and duration of therapy will vary depending on the individual client’s needs and response to treatment.

Do you accept insurance? Which providers?I am currently able to accept CIGNA, United Healthcare, Oscar and Aetna.

Are there any exceptions to confidentiality?Counselors with Ascue Counseling are mandated reports for situations that place the client or others at risk.

What happens during the first session?The first session is always the full assessment so that the Counselor has the opportunity to gather all information to best help the client.

How do I know if therapy is working?Focusing on meeting the treatment goals established in your first or second session is one way to track progress. Also, the client can look for improvement in mood, more assertive behaviors or decrease in poor habits. Clients can also look for getting along better in relationships/less arguments, feeling more satisfied, less frustrated and more grateful.

Can I bring someone with me to a session?This should be discussed with your counselor. If the person is relevant to your treatment a consent should be signed prior to the meeting to abide by HIPPA laws.

What should I bring or prepare before my first session?Before your first counseling session, it's helpful to bring any a list of current medications or relevant medical history. Take a few moments to think about the main issues you'd like to discuss and what you hope to get out of therapy. Jotting down your thoughts or questions for the therapist can help you feel more prepared. Most importantly, come with an open mind and a willingness to be honest—even if you're feeling nervous.

How does online therapy work?At this time Ascue Counseling utilizes Zoom for Telehealth appointments. Prior to the appointment the client will receive a zoom link via email. The link will be the same for each appointment. Each client has their own zoom link. It is imperative that the link is never shared with another person unless discussed with the counselor for family/couple sessions.

Is virtual therapy as effective as in-person therapy?Telehealth therapy has been shown to be just as effective as in-person therapy for treating conditions like anxiety, depression, and PTSD, offering comparable clinical outcomes. It increases accessibility, reduces barriers like travel and scheduling, and allows clients to engage from the comfort of their own homes, which can enhance openness and consistency. Overall, telehealth provides flexible, convenient, and effective mental health care without compromising quality.
